Glenda Mitchell

Glenda Mitchell played by Glynis Barber

Glenda Mitchell has arrived on the square, Already it seems as though Glenda has a few secrets and could in fact be a lot like Archie! Does anyone believe Glenda actually turned up to contest the will on behalf of Ronnie and Roxy? After her confession that she had not actually been living in the south of France and had been in London all along I certainly don’t! Really how hard would it of been to get in touch?

Overall I think they have cast Glenda Mitchell quite well, she looks like Ronnie and a little bit like Danielle. I hope Glenda stays around, it seems like her and Ronnie get on and their relationship could be interesting to watch. Hopefully she doesn’t turn into another Archie and Ronnie doesn’t get hurt again. I reckon that’s doubtful though. So what do You guys think?

Liam Bergin (Danny Mitchell, ‘EastEnders’)

Danny Mitchell

Ronnie and Roxy Mitchells secret brother is set to arrive on albert square in a few weeks, rumours are he’s going to be exactly like his recently murdered father Archie Mitchell. What do people think of this new character and what would you like to see happen when he arrives? Here’s a short interview with him taken from digital spy.

Archie’s secret son has been rumoured about for nearly a year now. How did the part come about? “It was all very quick for me. I’d met the powers that be at EastEnders about a year ago because I was actually offered the part of another character. I did three or four auditions, so I really became familiar with the team. When it came to Danny Mitchell, I had one audition and I received a call about an hour and a half later, which I wasn’t expecting! I had the normal nerves connected with an audition but I was quite confident in the circumstances. When I walked out, I called my mum and said that I thought I was a bit over-excited. They gave nothing away and in my heart of hearts, I’d dreamed that I’d walk in and they’d offer it to me there and then. For an hour and half, I was quite down but then I received the call!

How have you settled in? “I’ve been here since November, but it feels like a lifetime ago! We’re filming for March at the moment and with loads of snow on the ground, it looks a little strange! I had about a week and a half before I started filming, so I wasn’t thrown straight in at the deep end. I think I felt as calm as you can be when you start at EastEnders, although I was shocked by the amount there was to read and names to learn.” Did you watch EastEnders before? “I was a regular viewer when I was younger – in the ’90s era when Phil and Grant were in charge and in full power. Along with Ricky and Bianca, the Mitchells wereEastEnders to me and now I’ve become part of the family.

” How was the character billed to you when you joined? “For a start, I wasn’t actually told he was a Mitchell! It wasn’t until I was given the part that I found out. My agent and I felt that he was a Mitchell, but there was no official word – we were just working off the fact that I was doing scenes with Ronnie and Roxy. The clues were there. I wasn’t even called Danny, either. I think his name was Teddy or Eddie. Definitely not Danny. It was a great moment when I finally found out his name and what family he was part of. I knew then that it’d involve The Vic and working with Barbara [Windsor].

” How does Danny arrive in Walford? “It’s the day of Archie’s funeral and everyone’s back at The Vic for the wake. Ronnie and Roxy are arguing and Danny scarily tries to interrupt their argument by saying ‘excuse me, I’m looking for Roxanne or Ronnie Mitchell’. He knows who they are because he’s been told that they’re two attractive, blonde bombshells. Roxy says something like ‘can you go away, we’ve just buried our dad’ and then Danny says ‘I think you’ve just buried mine, too…

‘” Is that the first time you’re seen? “No, I’m actually on screen twice before that. You see him appear in Glenda’s flat but you don’t know who he is. I have two duff duffs before I actually speak then I get another duff duff when I say my first line!

” What was it like working with Glynis Barber? “Absolutely brilliant. She really did help me a lot and gave me tons of tips about learning lines. We’re not sure if she’s coming back yet or not, but she’s one of those characters that could easily return. Glenda’s not welcomed in the way Danny is – everyone knew Glenda existed, whereas Danny was a complete surprise.

” What’s to come? Apparently there’s an overarching mystery? “Danny tells the rest of the Mitchells that he’s not in contact with his mum but he actually is. Peggy finds out that he’s stayed in contact and doesn’t like it at all. Danny storms out after that because he sees that Peggy doesn’t trust him in the slightest. He doesn’t deserve to be trusted, though, because he has actually lied. He has his work cut out to gain everyone’s trust but still wants to keep in contact with Glenda. That’s the mystery to begin with – why is he staying in touch with Glenda? But there’s more to it than that…”

Danielle could be alive!

Since the Danielle was ran over by Janine, some people have claimed there is no possible way for her to be alive.  Others  have argued that there are many cases of people being wrongly declared dead, this argument has been used for a possible return story for Danielle, but was dismissed by some as being unrealistic.  However, a recent “Christmas miracle” has proven yet again, the doctors are human, and do make mistakes!!  Some people are declared dead, and do later wake up!!   Therefore, maybe just maybe there is hope for our Danielle!!

Here is the original article from digital spy (are they trying to hint at any eastenders future storylines?!):

Dead man’ wakes up before autopsy
Friday, January 8 2010, 15:22 GMT
By Mayer Nissim, Entertainment Reporter

Rex Features
A man who was declared dead by medics reportedly woke up as staff began a post-mortem examination on his body.

Manas Deo was struck by a vehicle near Baragadia village in Jajpur, India on December 25 and was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty in hospital, IANS reports.

A report in Oriya newspaper Sambad read: “It was a surprise for the hospital staff and family members after Manas woke up when the doctors began his autopsy.”

Deo is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Cuttack and medics now say he will recover in a fortnight.

‘Who Kills Archie?’:

Digital spy is having another poll, this time, they are asking us to vote on who we thing killed archie, they actually put Danielle on the list.  Anyway, vote for who you want, here is the list of suspects:

The Potential Suspects Wednesday, December 9 2009, 12:00 GMT By Kris Green, Soaps Editor Unless you’ve been living in a cave over the last couple of months, you’ll know that Archie will be brutally murdered in The Vic on Christmas Day in EastEnders. Following his murder, the one question that will be on everyone’s lips until February 19 will be ‘Who Killed Archie?’ Until then, here’s a non-exhaustive list of the suspects for Archie’s (Larry Lamb) murder along with some fictional odds. Cast you vote as to who you think kills Archie using the voting form at the bottom of this page.

Name: Ronnie Mitchell

Relation: Daughter

Motive: Revenge.

She hates Archie’s guts. She blames him for their mother’s departure, forcing her to give up her baby when she was 14, Danielle’s death… The list is endless…

Odds: Evens ——————————————————————————–

Name: Janine Butcher

Relation: Fiancée

Motive: Revenge.

Janine discovers that Archie’s been double-crossing her and that he’s been using her all along to get his hands on The Vic. She may, however, just kill him so she can have The Vic all to herself.

Odds: 6/4 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Peggy Mitchell

Relation: Wife

Motive: Revenge.

Archie turned her life upside down when his manipulative, controlling behaviour was exposed back in April on their wedding day. Archie also takes control of The Vic and throws them out on Christmas Eve – Peggy wants her pub back.

Odds: 2/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Phil Mitchell

Relation: Nephew-come-stepson

Motive: Phil didn’t kill Archie before when his mother asked him to.

Instead, he allowed Archie to leave Walford a lonely man. Phil may want to prove to his mother that he’s as much of a son to her as Grant.

Odds: 2/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Grant Mitchell

 Relation: Nephew-come-stepson

Motive: Peggy’s been backwards and forwards to Spain since the Mitchells’ finances took a turn for the worse.

Grant will have heard all the horror stories from Peggy and unable to see Archie tear his family apart any more, returns from Spain to do Phil’s dirty work.

Odds: 2/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Jack Branning

Relation: None

Motive: Revenge.

Jack’s never seen eye-to-eye with Archie. He previously asked Jack to help orchestrate Sam’s disappearance from the Square and when Jack refused to help, Archie exposed his affair with Sam. Jack’s also never liked the way that Archie’s treated Ronnie.

Odds: 3/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Ryan Malloy

Relation: None

Motive: Jealousy.

As Janine’s love interest, Ryan’s never been happy with Janine’s involvement with Archie. Although he’s subtly helped Archie along the way, Ryan could have been lulling him into a false sense of security.

Odds: 5/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Ian Beale

 Relation: None

Motive: Revenge.

Archie blackmailed Ian into selling him the Mitchells’ debts so he could take control of The Vic. Ian was furious because his half-brother Ben had his roof taken from over him. Ian was also made to look the bad man to the Mitchells when he was only helping them out in the first place. There’s also footage of Ian in bed with Janine floating around.

 Odds: 6/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Roxy Mitchell

Relation: Daughter

Motive: Roxy’s always been a daddy’s girl but after Archie’s treatment of the rest of the Mitchells (throwing them out of The Vic on Christmas Eve), Roxy may want revenge. She may also want revenge for the way he’s treated Ronnie and Peggy.

 Odds: 10/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Lucas Johnson

 Relation: None

 Motive: He has form.

Archie could find out about Lucas’s handy work with Trina and Owen. Lucas may lose control again and kill for a third time.

Odds: 16/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Stacey Slater

 Relation: None

Motive: Stacey’s bipolar could spiral out of control again, causing her to unleash her fury on Archie.

After all, just before she was sectioned, she accused Archie of trying to kill her with Ryan’s help.

 Odds: 25/1 ——————————————————————————–

 Name: Glenda Mitchell

Relation: Ex-wife

Motive: Fed up with Archie’s controlling nature, Glenda fled to Australia leaving her daughters Ronnie and Roxy behind.

On hearing that he’s remarried, Glenda may have returned to ensure Peggy doesn’t suffer the same life she did. Or exact her own revenge after all these years. She may not be around for Christmas Day – well, not that we know of…

Odds: 33/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Sam Mitchell

Relation: Niece

 Motive: Revenge.

Sam could order Archie’s murder form afar after Peggy calls to inform her what Archie’s done to the family. Realising that Archie orchestrated her departure from Walford for self-gain, Sam could order a hit man to bump him off. Odds: 33/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Pat Evans

Relation: None

Motive: Pat’s never liked Archie.

As Peggy’s best friend, Pat’s been watching Archie and how he’s been treating his wife. Pat may snap and exact her revenge on her friend’s behalf.

Odds: 66/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Ben Mitchell

Relation: Great-nephew

Motive: None.

Darren was Heather’s Baby Daddy, though. Anything’s possible in soapland.

Odds: 1000/1 ——————————————————————————–

Name: Danielle Jones

Relation: Granddaughter

Motive: Archie kept her existence a secret from her mother Ronnie, before she tragically died in Ronnie’s arms.

Odds: 5000/1

Santer Steps Down

Former Hollyoaks producer Bryan Kirkwood is to take the helm at the BBC’s flagship soap EastEnders after Diederick Santer steps down following the show’s 25th

Diederick Santer

anniversary.  Since taking over in October 2006, Santer has been behind some of eastenders most controversial storylines of recent years, including the year long build up of the Ronnie and Danielle storyline which ended with the abrupt death of Danielle Jones.  Some say he has spent too much time reintroducing old characters rather then developing new characters, he has recently been behind the return of  many old characters, such as Ricky Butcher, Bianca Jackson, the original Sam Mitchell, Janine Butcher,  and from early next year Carol, Sonia,  and Robbie.  Well loved new characters such as Ronnie Mitchell,  and Roxy Mitchell have become hated over recently storylines which some believe have destroyed the characters.
Santer said of his departure: “I’ve had the most fantastic time at EastEnders. It’s without doubt the best job in telly, and I’ve loved every minute of it. It’s a busy and challenging job so I’m now looking forward to becoming reacquainted with my family and friends. I’m grateful to all the people I’ve collaborated with over the last three years who work so hard and so creatively. It’s been a real pleasure to work with them and to get to know them, and I’m going to miss them all enormously.”

From February 20, Santer will relinquish his role to ex-Hollyoaks producer Bryan Kirkwood, who helmed the Channel 4 teen soap for three years before stepping aside

Bryan Kirkwood

to make way for successor Lucy Allan.  Kirkwood said of his new position: “I’m a huge soap fan so for me to be the new executive producer of EastEnders is a dream come true. Diederick Santer has done an amazing job and I’ll be taking over a show at the top of its game – quite a daunting task but one I can’t wait to get started on.”

Kirkwood headed up production of E4’s late-night Hollyoaks offering Later, which featured soapland’s first parachute death and a cameo performance by Welsh songstress Bonnie Tyler.  Prior to Hollyoaks, he spent a decade working at Coronation Street as a storyliner during the Richard ‘Tricky Dicky’ Hillman (Brian Capron) era.

Santer added of his successor: “I’m delighted that I’m passing the show on to Bryan Kirkwood. He’s a vastly talented and original producer with a brilliant storylining mind. I’m confident that under him, EastEnders will continue to thrive and to grow and to keep delivering the very best drama to its massive audience.”

Controller of BBC drama John Yorke said: “Diederick has presided over an incredibly strong period in the show’s history and demonstrated an instinctive mastery of what makes the programme such a success. Able to switch from brave and radical public service storytelling to big sweeping set pieces, he has been concerned only to get the best out of those around him and to match the highest standards of the programme’s founders.”  He went on: “Leaving EastEnders fighting fit and at the top of its game as it reaches its quarter century, he’ll be missed hugely by cast and crew. He’s going to be a very hard to act to follow but I’m confident Bryan is the right man for the job.”  Santer will continue to executive produce for the BBC in a special position tasked to develop “new shows that can be internally co-produced”. The dramas will be created through a joint venture with BBC Drama Production and BBC WorldWide Los Angeles.

Although the BBC may claim Santer will be missed, many fans may in fact be releaved at the news Santer is leaving, and hopeful that Kirkwood will bring Eastenders back to its former glory.

We have a message for Kirkwood, bring back Danielle!

A night to remember

The house was set up for Halloween, decorations hung, lights turned off and two best friends sat on the sofa waiting for trick or treaters, telling ghost stories. A few hours early the streets had been light and young children were playing in the unusual warm autumn breeze, just as Stacey Slater had appeared at Ronnie Mitchell’s flat, the house she now shared with her beloved daughter; Danielle Jones. Stacey held up a torch to her face, it gleaming in the darkness; they were never too old to share ghost stories. “One of my friends used to live in an old dark house at the end of a long dark street and I used to go there all the time, especially at Halloween,” Danielle couldn’t help but laugh at how pathetic this story sounded, “Ey! Shut up..I haven’t finished yet! So I was there one night in this bedroom by myself, the floor boards creaked every time I breathed and I could hear the rustling of the trees outside, my friend was in the room next door and I could hear this scratching on the wall; I thought she was trying to scare me. I closed my eyes to try and get to sleep but then I was woken by a sudden breeze of cold air. My eyes shot open and I swear on my life I saw this little girl at the bottom of my bed, I tried to scream but no sound would come out and this girl like floated towards me,” Stacey gestured with her hands whilst Danielle tried to control her laughter. “She was dressed like she was from the 50’s or summat but it was dead scary. She started talking to me and everything. Next morning I woke up and everything in my room had been moved around, I didn’t go to sleep for weeks.” Stacey shuddered at the thought. “Is that the best you can do? A ghost!” Danielle giggled. “I thought it was meant to be scary stories!” “You do better than Miss Jones, I can’t wait to see your attempt,”

Stacey sat back and folded her arms a smug grin across her face; she knew Danielle wouldn’t beat her story, even though hers was slightly pathetic. “Ok,” Danielle grinned smugly back at Stacey knowing full well that her story was better than her best friends. “There once was a girl who lived in an orphanage. Her parents had died but she never knew the truth about their deaths; some said they died in a car crash, others said they were murdered and the rest said they had died in their sleep. This little girl didn’t know what to believe so one day decided to find out for herself. So she left the orphanage one night, the 31st October and was walking on the way to the nearest village a few miles down the road. The orphanage was a few miles away from other people to keep the children well behaved. So she was walking through this forest and she heard the crunching of the leaves behind her, it’s only the wind she thought. How wrong was she?!” Stacey turned to Danielle shaking her head in embarrassment. “And you said mine was bad!” “I haven’t finished yet! She turned round and didn’t see anybody but when she turned her head back she saw this ghostly shadow of a headless man. She spun around quickly hoping to see him but she didn’t see anything. She increased her speed and was nearing the village when she saw a swinging of an axe in her shadow. She tightly closed her eyes before feeling drops of blood fall onto her hands. She reached to touch her neck but there wasn’t any blood, it was dry. She ran into the village to try and find some light. She saw an old man when she approached a street light and asked him if he could help her. She explained she was from the orphanage down the road and wanted to find out about her parents. She was shocked when he said there was no orphanage around here it was closed 50 years ago. The man suddenly disappeared and the girl was all alone. Next morning a dog walked found a body of the girl an axe next to her head…”

The room fell silent as Stacey silently laughed at Danielle’s story. Danielle felt proud as she thought her story had triumphed over her best friends. They sat there for a few minutes in totally peace before a loud knocking at the door disturbed them. “Holy…” Stacey jumped out of her seat. It had gone way past 11 and they weren’t expecting anybody else; the kids of the square had visited them earlier before they started telling ghost stories. Stacey cautiously went up to the front door with Danielle, who gripped tight onto Stacey’s arm; never a fan of Halloween. They flung the door open to see an empty space in front of them. Knock-a-door run. Stacey breathed out a loud sigh and Danielle nervously giggled to herself before making their way back to the living room. “BOOO!” The house was filled with the high pitched screaming and the loud cackle of Ronnie Mitchell’s laugher as a clocked figure entered the house through the open door…

Axe Murder Hollow

n18axeman

Ronnie  and Jack were driving through a wooded empty section of highway. Lightning flashed, thunder roared, the sky went dark in the torrential downpour.
“We’d better stop,”  said Ronnie.
Jack nodded his head in agreement. He stepped on the brake, and suddenly the car started to slide on the slick pavement. They plunged off the road and slid to a halt at the bottom of an incline.
Pale and shaking, Jack quickly turned to check if Ronnie was all right.  When she nodded, Jack relaxed and looked through the rain soaked windows.
“I’m going to see how bad it is,” he told Ronnie, and when out into the storm. She saw his blurry figure in the headlight, walking around the front of the car. A moment later, he jumped in beside her, soaking wet.
“The car’s not badly damaged, but we’re wheel-deep in mud,” he said. “I’m going to have to go for help.”
Ronnie swallowed nervously. There would be no quick rescue here. He told her to turn off the headlights and lock the doors until he returned.
Ax Murder Hollow. Although Jack hadn’t said the name aloud, they both knew what he had been thinking when he told her to lock the car.  This was the place where a man had once taken an axe and hacked his wife to death in a jealous rage over an alleged affair. Supposedly, the axe-wielding spirit of the husband continued to haunt this section of the road.
Outside the car, Ronnie heard a shriek, a loud thump, and a strange gurgling noise. But she couldn’t see anything in the darkness.
Frightened, she shrank down into her seat. She sat in silence for a while, and then she noticed another sound.  Bump. Bump. Bump.  It was a soft sound, like something being blown by the wind.
Suddenly, the car was illuminated by a bright light.  An official sounding voice told her to get out of the car. Jack must have found a police officer. Ronnie unlocked the door and stepped out of the car.  As her eyes adjusted to the bright light, she saw it.
Hanging by his feet from the tree next to the car was the dead body of Jack.  His bloody throat had been cut so deeply that he was nearly decapitated. The wind swung his corpse back and forth so that it thumped against the tree. Bump. Bump. Bump.
Ronnie screamed and ran toward the voice and the light. As she drew close, she realized the light was not coming from a flashlight. Standing there was the glowing figure of a man with a smile on his face and a large, solid, and definitely real axe in his hands. She backed away from the glowing figure until she bumped into the car.
“Playing around when my back was turned,” the ghost whispered, stroking the sharp blade of the axe with his fingers. “You’ve been very naughty.”
The last thing she saw was the glint of the axe blade in the eerie, incandescent light.
